Jugnuma: The Fable, released in Hindi in 720p in the spring of 1989. Dev is a soft-spoken property owner who lives with his family in a colonial-style home high in the Indian Himalayas, where even the birds fly low to avoid getting lost in the clouds. He spends a lot of his time building human-sized wings which he puts on to take a quick morning flight over his land. He comes across a single charred apple tree as he wanders through the estate one day. More trees are destroyed a few days later. Unrest arises as a result of Dev and his manager monitoring the plantation workers. A group of nomads comes under suspicion and a corrupt police officer gets involved, while loyal men camp out in the orchards to keep a vigilant watch at night. A week later, despite all of these precautions, a significant fire breaks out and consumes an entire mountainside of trees. In his search for the culprit, Dev resorts to armed violence. The slow burning of the orchards forces him to face the truth about himself and his family.
